What we do
Help with Divorce

Our professional and helpful team can help you personally with all matters of Divorce

Every family is different and our dedicated family law team understand that couples can choose to end their marriages for a variety of different reasons.
Jarmans Solicitors believes in offering all of our clients clear and professional legal advice, specifically tailored to their personal needs. Our experienced team will sensitively and supportively guide you through the divorce process, ensuring that your emotional needs are respected at all times.

Our initial fixed fee interview enables you to discuss your case in detail with one of our family solicitors. After listening to your case, we then follow up with a letter which advises you on the law and procedures, and which clearly details your instructions. Where possible we will also include a proposed plan of action and an estimate of the likely costs or any legal action that you might choose.

We offer a free, 15-minute, pre-bookable phone call with one of our experienced family law team. Alternatively, we offer a fixed £120 fee inc VAT  for a 45-minute meeting with one of our highly experienced family team. If you would like some confidential advice about a family legal issue, contact us today to book a meeting.

What happens next?

Divorce Proceedings
For any divorce to take place we have to be prove that a marriage has broken down irretrievably. This is done by proving one of five different facts. After listening to your case our team will work with you to decide which one best fits your circumstances.

  • Your husband/wife has committed adultery and you find it intolerable to live with them
  • Your husband/wife has behaved in a way that makes it unreasonable for you to remain living with them
  • Your husband/wife has deserted you for a continuous period of at least 2 years
  • You and your husband/wife have lived separately and apart for at least two years and you both consent to a divorce
  • You and your husband/wife have lived separate and apart for at least five years

Our team always recommends that our clients attempt to reach a financial agreement by attending mediation sessions or by creating a Financial Remedy Order with your husband/wife’s solicitors.

If, however, you can’t reach an agreement before you obtain a Decree Nisi, we can then work with you in representing you within Financial Remedy Proceedings.
