What are my working rights?
Jarmans Solicitors can advise and support you with working rights
If you have concerns about whether your Working Rights have been breached, our professional and experienced solicitors at Jarmans can help you to understand the situation and guide you as to what action you can take against your employer to ensure that your Working rights are respected.
What are my Working Rights?
As an employee in the UK, there are a number of Working Rights set out in employment law in order to protect you whilst you are employed.
Such Working Rights include, but are not limited to:
• receiving a contract of your employment in the agreed timescale
• being able to work in a safe environment with no risk of harm
• appropriate annual leave rights
• a right to a minimum wage (dependent on age)
• having no fear of experiencing discrimination in the workplace
• a right to maternity leave or paternity leave
• a right to not be unfairly dismissed
What can I do if I feel my Working Rights are being, or have been, breached?
We always suggest that you firstly raise the issue directly with your employer first. Access the appropriate employment policies that they have in place and follow their internal process for raising such issues.
As well as this, ensure that you keep full records and copies of all written correspondence between you and your employer too.
However, there may still be instances where you are not able to resolve the issue with your employer. This is where Jarmans can help you.
I contacted Jarmans Solicitors (Supriya) regarding an employment issue. They were professional, knowledgeable and efficient. I felt fully supported and valued throughout a very difficult period. I would throroughly recommend Jarmans Solicitors and would not hesitate to use them again if needed. The service was exceptional. Thank you.
