Solicitor Jay Sahota has always held his local community close to his heart and his Sittingbourne based law firm, Jarmans Solicitors regularly hold events to raise money and awareness for good causes. So, when he read that grass roots sports and football were in crisis as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, he knew he and his team had to help. “I have always been a believer in giving back, especially to those who need it in the community, so what better way to support activities which have been gravely impacted by Covid” – Jay Sahota
For some of our local teams who rely on income from turnstiles, finances took a dramatic hit when lockdown started in March and there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. Gillingham Football Club’s last income was from a home game on 29th February 2020 and they still have to pay the wages of their hardworking staff and players. The situation further down the leagues looks even bleaker, meaning funding could be cut from youth training programmes and teams.
Alongside sponsoring Sittingbourne FC, Jarmans Solicitors have also joined an innovative networking group called The Sports Business Club. Based in Gillingham, The Sports Business Club is an innovative business networking group which donates half of its membership fees to a nominated sports club. Working alongside the sports organisations, they are not only able to raise their profiles, but also provide a much-needed regular income during these uncertain times. “As a Kent boy born and bred, I am proud to be supporting two of my local teams” Jay Sahota
